BusinessEurope is an EP Communication Partner for the 2024 European elections

We are excited to announce that BusinessEurope is an official communication partner for the 2024 European Parliament elections. The business community's commitment to actively contributing to the democratic process is crucial for a thriving business environment. On 6 May, we participated in the Partnership Agreement Reception with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and fellow partners in preparation for the upcoming European elections. Metsola’s message at the ceremony was strong: We should not take Europe or the right to vote for granted. Together we can make a difference; let’s make every vote count.

Reboot Europe in press

President Fredrik Persson discussed the EU's competitiveness and the challenges ahead in his interview with the Financial Times that was featured in their newsletter Europe Express on 9 April. “We need to reboot our system and refocus on competitiveness. We need regulation to be workable, or we won’t be successful,” Persson said. Director General Markus J Beyrer talked to Bloomberg about the trade aspects addressed in the paper: “We need to deal with economic security, but at the same time, we need an ambitious trade agenda.” He also presented our priorities at the ‘Talking Europe’ show on France 24. Politico’s Pro Trade Newsletter as well wrote about our campaign under the title ‘Business lobby enters campaign mode’.

EU Elections: Europe needs a reboot to restore its competitiveness

BusinessEurope has launched its campaign today for policy changes for the next EU political cycle, under the motto ‘Reboot Europe’. Commenting on what Europe needs to do during the next five years, BusinessEurope President Fredrik Persson said: “Faced with multiple geopolitical risks and economic uncertainty, the EU must put competitiveness at the forefront and use the next EU cycle to reboot its policies for today’s challenges. After five years focused on regulating the green and digital transitions, the EU needs to improve its attractiveness as an investment location".

Discussing European elections with the French business community

President Fredrik Persson participated in the REF Europe event organised by our French member federation Medef, on March 28. This event centred around the 2024 European elections. Persson addressed various hot topics in Europe, including enlargement, overregulation, competitiveness, and the Green Deal. Fredrik Persson stated, "Europe's strength comes from its economic weight. Presently, this weight is eroded. To make Europe stronger globally, the EU must concentrate on enhancing Europe's competitiveness and making it the place to invest."
